DOODLED ABSTRACTIONS by DANNY AUGUSTINE
The rich paintings of Chicago based artist Danny Augustine are abstractions yet specific explorations into his personal lexicon of colors, shapes and lines. What starts as a random splash of ink or water may evolve to interpret his mother's schizophrenia then shift to portray his inner landscape of memories and experiences, converging with the 24-hour stream of world news updates.

Danny Augustine (BFA 2010) has recently been highlighted by Art on Fashion for his collaborative design work that mixes his fine arts practice with textile and fashion design. In a recent interview with the magazine, Augustine describes his process, and his thoughts on the concept of wearable art. Augustine is inspired by texture and uses his ink drawings to create mirror image type textile designs, creating dynamic fabric choices in recent fashion line The Time Series.
